The Mid Atlantic Black Film Festival (MABFF) will be held September 16 – 19, 2009 at the Historic Attucks Theatre in Norfolk. The Mid Atlantic Black Film Festival (MABFF) is an annual juried competition showcasing indie films from some of the most talented, established and up-and-coming independent filmmakers of color from all over the world.

The 2008 inaugural MABFF screened a total of 40 independent films from all across the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, the Caribbean, Uganda and Zimbabwe, including 15 Virginia premieres. The MABFF is a core program of Crispus Attucks Cultural Center, a non-profit cultural arts organization dedicated to presenting
artistic, educational and multicultural activities with an emphasis on the African American and African Diaspora experience.

The festival's lineup will highlight the Short and Student Film Competition, premieres, international cinema, tributes, and orkshops facilitated by leading figures in the film and entertainment industry.

The MABFF will have cash prizes in the following categories:
· Grand Jury Award
· Best Documentary
· Best Short
· Best Student Film
