Nauticus to Host Radio-Controlled Model Boat Collection This Summer

Published: July 19, 2009
Nauticus will be the host to the Elite Fleet of Virginia Beach, a radio-controlled model boat club, on the 4th Saturday of every month this summer. On June 27, July 25 and Aug 22, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the group will set up and display their models in the museum’s front pools.

The Elite Fleet’s mission is to promote radio-controlled model boats throughout Hampton Roads. Club members build models of all types, from crab boats, tugboats and ocean liners to military boats and ships of all kinds. The group’s collection of over 50 boats have been built from both kits and from scratch and range from nine inches to 12 feet long.
